Pioneer of Bahraini modern art
Nasser AlYousif
1940-2006
Nasser AlYousif gave Bahrain's folk memory its enduring visual form, in paintings, etchings and prints made over five decades. When he lost his sight in 1992 he taught himself to work by touch, and the linoleum prints of his final years are now held by museums across the region and beyond.
